Electro-Optical Assembly Technician

Location: Irvine, CA

We are seeking a skilled Electro-Optical Assembly Technician to support the assembly, integration, alignment, testing, and troubleshooting of precision electro-optical systems and subassemblies. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering and production teams to build high-quality optical, mechanical, and electronic assemblies according to detailed drawings, work instructions, specifications, and test procedures. This position requires excellent attention to detail, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work with precision components and test equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, integrate, and test precision laser, optical, mechanical, and electro-optical components and subassemblies.
  • Perform assembly and related manufacturing activities in a cleanroom environment.
  • Work from engineering drawings, assembly procedures, and written work instructions.
  • Perform precision mechanical assembly, bonding, soldering, wiring, and component installation.
  • Perform optical and laser component alignment, integration, inspection, and functional testing.
  • Use hand tools, microscopes, measurement equipment, and other precision assembly equipment.
  • Record manufacturing, inspection, and test results accurately in required documentation and systems.
  • Identify assembly issues, defects, and process problems and work with engineering and quality teams to resolve them.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company and cleanroom policies.
  • Follow established quality, safety, ESD, contamination-control, and manufacturing procedures.

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or an associate degree in electronics, electromechanical technology, manufacturing, optics, or a related field is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in electro-optical, precision mechanical, optical, electronics, or similar assembly.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow engineering drawings and assembly and work instructions.
  • Experience using hand tools and precision measurement equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with small, delicate, precision components.
  • Ability to document work accurately and follow detailed procedures consistently.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed primarily in a controlled cleanroom environment.
  • Frequent use of precision hand tools, microscopes, and measurement equipment.
  • May require prolonged periods of standing, sitting, or performing detailed hand assembly.
  • Employees must comply with cleanroom gowning, contamination-control, ESD, safety, and quality requirements.

Pay Range: $24.00 - $32.00 per hour
